Meet the Staff
||Dr. Steve Dighton
In 1990, Steve Dighton became the founding Pastor of Lenexa Baptist Church. He was the Senior Pastor of Lenexa Baptist Church until his retirement in March, 2015. He now serves as LBC’s Senior Pastoral Advisor. Prior to coming to Lenexa, he was the Senior Pastor at First Baptist Church in Piedmont, Oklahoma. Pastor Steve received his education at Dallas Baptist University and holds two degrees from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. He also holds an honorary Doctorate of Divinity from Baker University.His wife, Mary Dighton, is a dentist. She spent several years in private practice in Lenexa. The Dighton’s have two sons, Chase and Derek, who both attend Lenexa Baptist. Steve and Mary also have four grandchildren, Cooper, Allison, Johnathan and Crusoe.
Associate Pastor of Education
Lee and Penny Sanders are both originally from Missouri. Lee came to our church staff from the Dallas, Texas area. They have four daughters: Lindsey, Rikki, Stephanie, and Jamie. As Minister of Education, Lee's primary responsibility is to oversee and direct the Bible study and discipleship training ministries for all age groups within the church.
Associate Pastor of Membership
Rob joined the FBCO staff in April 2012. He and his wife, Joyce, have two adult children, Eve and Joel. He has formerly pastored in Missouri, Indiana and western New York. Rob has a Master of Theology from Anderson Theological Seminary and is a graduate of Baptist Bible College in Springfield Missouri. His responsibilities include teaching Starting Point, Discipline & Design, Serving & Sharing, working with the senior adults, Discipleship and helping people assimilate into FBCO life.
Minister to Students
Brandon came on staff at FBCO in March 2015. Brandon earned a Bachelor's Degree in Christian ministry from Southwest Baptist University in Bolivar, MO where he also met his wife Caitlin. Caitlin is currently a stay at home mom to their son Mason but has a masters degree in school counseling from Evangel University in Springfield, MO. Brandon has been in student ministry for over 10 years serving with churches in St. Charles, Buffalo and Marshfield Missouri.
Director of Childhood Ministries
Lori, her husband Karl and their three children (Jenny, Ryan and Kristen) have been a part of the FBCO family since 2001. Lori has been ministering to children and their families for over 20 years. She is gifted in organization and working behind-the-scenes to make sure every detail is taken care of. Her desire is to equip leadership to broaden the church's ability to reach children for Christ.
Minister of Media
Jim grew up in central Illinois and earned his B.S. in Education and Church Music from Southwest Baptist University in Bolivar, Missouri. After many years serving as a church staff worship leader, musician, audio engineer, technical artist, and mission project coordinator in Missouri and Illinois, he joined FBC O'Fallon in 2007 as Minister of Media. Jim and his wife Shelly have been married 17 years and have been parents to son Brennan since 2005.
Director of Ministry Support
Brenda became a member of First Baptist Church in early 2006 and joined the staff in January, 2016. She works alongside and supervises the office support staff as they maintain church records, produce and order printed materials, and provide general support for various departments. She volunteers in the preschool department working with the toddler group. Brenda has a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Missouri with emphases in business, psychology, and employee training and development. Prior to beginning her current position she worked for 22 years in the Social Security Disability program.
Director of Facilities
Dale has been a member of FBCO since 1962. He joined the church staff in 1995 and serves as the Director of Facilities, which entails the upkeep and care of church facilities. Dale has participated in multiple international mission trips from South America to the Middle East. Dale also works closely with the Building and Grounds Committee.
Brandon joined our FBCO staff in 2015 as the FBC Academy Principal. He has a Bachelor of Arts of History from the University of Southern Mississippi and Associate in Applied Science Drafting and Design Technology from East Central Community College. Brandon has been History Teacher and Principal to Lamar Christian School as well as English and History Teacher for Columbia High School.
